Sur, a city synonymous with boat building, sailing and exploration was the next stop for the Oman Sailing Festival and the locals were enthralled by the chance to try sailing and windsurfing with professional coaches. Over two days, on 3-4 December 2021, 560 visitors took part in the festival while many, many others enjoyed the atmosphere.
The festival also included a beach clean up operation at Khor Al Bath, as volunteers joined hands with Oman Sail, Be’Ah and the Environment Society of Oman to help conserve the beautiful beaches for generations to come and leave a cleaner ocean for marinelife to thrive.
Ali Al Shuhaimi, Centre Manager of Al Mouj Sailing School and project manager of the Oman Sailing Festival, said, “We are delighted to see so many people from the Sur area come along over the weekend to learn how to sail, try windsurfing and help us to take care of the environment. This city is famous for its maritime heritage and the spirit is still strong. We hope that many of the people who tried the sport for the first time this weekend become interested in learning more and becoming regular sailors.”
