Teaching Omanis how to sail is one of the primary aims of Oman Sail. To date, more than 10,000 young Omanis have learned to sail, and every week hundreds more are being taught by qualified Omani instructors.

A full dual-language training syllabus has been developed. This gives Oman Sailing Schools international recognition, and means that any sailing qualification achieved will be recognised worldwide.

Taster sessions are invaluable for showing the community that sailing is a fun, easy and accessible sport for Omanis. This could range from a member of Oman Sail making a presentation at a local school or a fleet of boats sailing at a festival. Every participant will be informed of where they can learn to sail, ensuring that this is not their last sailing experience.

Sailing teaches transferable skills, such as teamwork, leadership and problem-solving, skills that complement the education curriculum. Half the courses taught are geared to school children. Once children have completed an initial course, they are invited to join the weekly community club, enabling them to carry on sailing in a fun and social environment.
